Camping Valle Romantica is a romantically situated campsite, in an idyllic valley, at the entrance of the Cannobina Valley. Directly on the river and approx. 1.5 km from the centre of Cannobio. Only 5 km from the Swiss border. Open from March until September.
Valle Romantica is the oldest campsite in Cannobio, as well as on the Lake Maggiore!
Since 1956 the campsite is an oasis of nature and quietness. It was bought by the father of the current Swiss owner, and built up as a campsite by his father. He planted about 20ยด000 small Azaleas, Camellias, as well as other rare plants and bushes. Thanks to its tropical plants, some of them rare to find; Azaleas, Camellias, Rhododendrons, Magnolias, Mimosas, the campsite seems like a botanical garden and shows the interest of plants and flowers by the owner (see also campsite Riviera).
Bushes of plants such as azaleas and camellias separate all the 188 plots. Nature adventure is a must ! Paradise of flowers and exotic bushes and plants are the trademark of Valle Romantica. During Spring a paradise in bloom !
The mountain river gives the opportunity to swim, snorkel, dive, as well as canyoning. Its fresh and clear water invites you to swim during summer (at the different beaches around the shores) - not only an amusement for children, but also to relax fishing and for paddling. There is a swimming pool on the campsite with deck chairs (open from May until mid September). A small pool for children/babies is provided.
There is a possibility to rent apartments and mobile homes on the campsite. The apartments are situated in different old houses on the campsite, such as "rustici", that were reconstructed and nicely furnished. Almost all accommodations with heating, for the cooler temperatures at night during spring and autumn.
At the end of the campsite a wooden path brings you to some nice and romantic places with a small sandy beach on the opposite side of the river.
The three sanitary blocks are of modern construction, with free warm showers, WC, washbasins, and separate washing-cabins.
Electricity can be provided to all pitches. Long cables are sometimes required.
In the middle of the campsite there is a cafeteria, that was 100 years ago a farmhouse, situated near the swimming pool, with an old chimney, that provides a warm ambience during colder days. Outside under a pergola with stone tables and other places to sit you can eat Italian and International specialities or just have a drink.
In May 2000 our old, lovely Osteria "Vino Divino" was reconstructed and opened also for the public, close to the campsite. With an old wine cellar and excellent cuisine. The atmosphere seems like that of a Grotto, with higher standards or simply for people who are looking for a lovely and enjoyable special evening, sitting outside in nice and warm weather under big Chestnut-trees. It a place where local people, tourists, and Swiss meet all together: a variety of different people !
A small mini-market inside the campsite provides, for those guests who wish to cook for themselves with a wide range of food and wine.
Washing machines are available (by buying coins at the reception).
The Cannobina Valley a paradise for walking and for climbing mountains; a volleyball field at the end of the campsite for guests who love sports, a children's playground (all made of wood), one two ping-pong table (near the volleyball field): that's what Campsite Valle Romantica offers their guests !
Both for pitches and accommodation, during high season (Summer months), a reservation is recommended, by letter, by telephone, by fax or by e-mail (please requests always with complete address and phone number for any feedback!). For emplacements reservation we request a minimum stay of 10 nights. Always ask also for our booking conditions first before starting a request!
